To raise money for the its New York field trip, marketing class will host a hot dog eating contest featuring teams of teachers and students on Oct. 20, at Moss Field during the halftime of the Powder Puff football game.
“People should come and see the [hot dog eating]contest because it is fun and disgusting,” marketing teacher Kathryn Laurentis said.
In addition to raising money for the class’ annual New York field trip, the contest will provide entertainment for the halftime of the PowderPuff game.
“It’s very enjoyable, and yet I didn’t know I’d be good at it,” Tim Levine, math teacher and competitor, said.
Levine has won previously. He will return to the competition with his cross-country coaching partner Jon Petter.
Petter’s experience is different from Levine’s as Petter is propelled by competitiveness, but he doesn’t like eating hot dogs.
This year is the first year students and teachers voted on which teachers could compete by putting money into hats for the teachers. This money also will go towards the New York trip.
The contest isn’t how many hot dogs the contestants can eat, but more, who can eat 10 hot dogs the fastest.
Levine and Petter, and three student teams will compete.
