Senior Katelyn Turley has accomplished a lot during her time at Webster Groves High School, including being a member of NHS, Spanish NHS, Spanish club, playing Varsity volleyball and lacrosse for four years, being captain of both teams this year, and co-editing the Echo Yearbook.
Turley received an offer to play Division III collegiate volleyball at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. After receiving help from club coaches and recruiters, Turley decided Augustana was the ideal school for her. Turley credits her success in the sport to some of the girls she met on the team at WGHS.
“My biggest volleyball inspiration was one of my teammates, Maren DeMargel. Playing with her for three years, I learned so much from her, how she plays and how she leads other people. She’s the teammate that I want to be moving forward with,” Turley said.
Turley has several goals for herself post-graduation.
“My main goal honestly is to graduate college, be successful playing volleyball in college, and have a successful future,” Turley said.
Turley is majoring in business administration/management and wants to pursue a career somewhere in the business world.
Turley has been very involved and successful in high school through both athletics and academics.
“My advice would be to stay organized and get involved. It’s way more fun when you have activities to go to and sports to play, and that’s how you meet a lot of friends,” Turley said.
Turley’s volleyball teammate senior Maggie Lodes said Turley was a hard worker and a great leader.
“She knows how to encourage others with a good attitude,” Lodes said.
Lodes and other friends of Turley agree she has found success in high school and are excited to see what she does next.
