Kirkwood Market is a hub of baked goods, jams, jellies, spices and herbs. The market has been around since 1976 and is the site of the Kirkwood Pumpkin Patch and the Kid’s Fun Zone in October.

Kirkwood has no plans of stopping the streak of its Pumpkin Patch extravaganza.

Market manager Kori Thompson described the market’s transformation, “Our market turns into a pumpkin patch for the Halloween season. It features many varieties of pumpkins, cornstalks, gourds and fall decorations. The fun doesn’t stop there, with many seasonal goods being offered like pumpkin pie and an assortment of spices.¨

Thompson said, “I love the products like pumpkin candles, mums and everything fall!”

Along with fall specialties, the market has a Fall Fun zone for children, featuring a straw mountain, a haunted tunnel, quadro slides and other children’s activities. The Fall Fun Zone is on a ticket basis due to restrictions, with online ordering at $5.

“We are staying open this season; the grand opening is on Saturday,”  a Summit Produce worker said.

Companies like Summit Produce also offer fall specialties.

Thompson said, “Honey Bee’s Biscuits and Gravy has amazing seasonal specials, so I would say that is my favorite.” Along with Honey Bee’s surrounding stores like the OK Hatchery and Strange Donuts are offering Halloween-themed items.

Thompson said, the market is taking all measures to keep patrons safe with COVID-19 as a consideration.

“The market has been working closely with the St. Louis County Department of Health to ensure all of the appropriate safety measures are being taken” Thompson said. “The market requires masks. We also provide hand sanitizer and restroom sinks for hand cleaning. Each person will take a temperature check prior to entering [the Fall Fun Zone].”

As workers rush to get all the fall festivities in place, the temperature drops and night comes sooner as October is approaching. The market is excited to welcome all into the Kids Fun Zone and the pumpkin patch.

“We hope to see you there!” the Summit Producer worker said.
