Senior and state champion Brady Schuettpelz plans to play men’s basketball at Grinnell College next year where he will major in Economics.
Schuettpelz became a State champion his senior year.
On winning State, Schuettpelz said, “Winning a State championship made my time playing basketball at WG feel complete, especially because I’m a senior, and this was my last year to do it. I remember watching the team win State my freshman year when I was on JV, and it’s been the main thing on my mind since then. It was the perfect way to go out.”
Schuettpelz will now say “Goodbye” to Webster and continue his basketball career. Grinnell College is located in Grinnell, IA, about an hour East of Des Moines. The Pioneers are a member of the NCAA Division III Midwest Conference, according to the Grinnell Athletics website.
“(I’m looking) forward to having unlimited gym access and more freedom,” Schuettpelz said about being a college athlete.
About why he chose to continue playing in college, Schuettpelz said, “I knew I wanted to play college basketball because of how much time I’ve put into it and how I still don’t get tired or bored of it.”
“My favorite parts about playing basketball are shooting threes, the competitiveness, playing with a team, and the relationships I’ve built. My [Webster Groves] teammates are like brothers to me.[I love] going out and competing against each other every day in practice brought everyone closer both on and off the court,” Schuettpelz added about why he chose to continue playing.
It’s clear that Schuettpelz loves shooting threes, as he had the most three point shots made for Webster this year with 59. His three-point percentage was 47%, the second most among Webster shooters with at least 20 attempts.
