Addison Simpson, senior, committed to University of Michigan. Starting in the fall she plans to major in law, justice and social change with a minor in political science and statistics.

Simpson has been involved in numerous activities throughout her high school career. She has played Varsity tennis and basketball all four years, and has volunteered at Crisis Nursery. She also has gotten the chance to create her business through THRIVE, an experience she said has taught her a lot. She has also been a part of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and Interact club.

Simpson said, “I am currently planning to major in law, justice and social change, with minors in political science and statistics (although that may change). I have a deep passion for social justice and equity work. By studying this, I will get the foundations needed to either work on a governmental or policy level to better our world.”

Simpson has taken classes during high school to prepare herself for her major and future studies. Her favorite class was Real World Problem Solving, a class provided by the Chelsea Center. She described how through the class she was able to study real world social issues and work on how to problem solve to fix the issues.

About the class, Simpson said, “This class is also what opened my eyes to the type of work I want to pursue in my career.”
