Ritenour defeats Webster

Statesmen took on Ritenour High School on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. at Moss Field. The Statesmen lost the game 0-43 and fell to 2-4 on the season.

The Statesmen struggled all through the game against Ritenour’s defense, The Statesmen were held to 38 total yards of offense on the night. Junior QB Will Travers was 7/20 on the night with 27 yds and one int. The Statesmen had a total of 29 rush attempts for a total of 11 yards.

Ritenour’s defense was solid all game long. Junior Yarmon Kirksey, Jr., had a impressive outing with six tot and two sacks on the night. The Huskies racked up five total sacks in the game.

On the offensive side of the ball Ritenour had 369 yards of total offense in the game.

Ritenour started the game with a 75-yard touchdown run from Senior RB Michael Miller. Miller had 10 attempts on the ground in the game racking up 128 yards and two touchdowns. In the air the Huskies played well for the entire game. Ritenour quarterback Anthony Odom was 12/18 with 191 yards and three touchdown passes.

Webster linebackers junior Owen Capoccia and senior Sean Patrick Keegan, Jr., had a combined 17 tackles in the game. Capoccia is up to 57 total tackles on the season now. The junior linebacker hopes to hit his goal of a 100-tackle season in only his junior year. In the 2023-24 season no players reached the 100 total tackles in the Suburban Orange Pool.

During halftime, senior Brenden Tucker took on the James Carrollton $10,000 punt, pass and kick challenge. In order for Tucker to win the $10k, he would need to start at the farside of the end zone, and he would have one pass, one punt and finally a field goal attempt. Tucker started off with a 40-yard pass leaving him with about 80 yards to go. The punt didn’t go so well as he only got it about 30/35 yards leaving him with a 60-yard field goal. The field goal attempt didn’t go so well, and he was unable to complete the challenge.
