Throughout my experience on the Echo, I’ve been so used to writing in third person that I’m not sure where to start.

I’ve been rewriting this the past couple days and trying so hard not to make it sound like every “goodbye” you read. Unfortunately this might get sappy.

Winning an award at Mizzou’s J-Day for social media (my pride and joy, @wgecho), and scoring an All-Missouri this year, made me remember why Echo was so important to me throughout the two years I was on staff. Even though most of my stories were turned in late, I really did care about it, and everyone who worked on the paper with me.

First of all, I want to say, “Thank you” to my advisor Donald Johnson. Without you I don’t think I would be writing this right now. I was so anxious the first time in sophomore year when I had to go interview all the football players for Turkey Day, but you encouraged me, and I realized I enjoyed interviewing and learning about other people. You’re always so supportive of all of us, and I truly appreciate all the hard work you dedicate to the Echo. I will miss talking about nerdy shows and random news with you.

I also would like to thank everyone I have been on staff with.

Thank you to Hadley Hoskins, our editor in chief for putting so much time into the Echo. We wouldn’t have been able to produce an issue every month without you!

Thank you to my good friend Sam Klein, our print editor, who I got through this year with and who always produces the best podcasts-so excited for Mizzou with you!

Thank you to Margaret Oliphant, who puts so much passion into her videos every Thursday and always has a positive attitude.

Thank you to Arianna Peper, Jasper Winterton and Margaret Korte. I know you guys will produce amazing Echo’s next year. Especially with your editor in chief Ali Schultz, who puts so much effort and research into all her work.

Finally thank you to my friends and family who are always there for me, especially my biggest supporters, my mom and my grandparents, who probably read my articles more than anyone.
