Senior Claire Miller will attend Harvard University as an English major. Miller said she also hopes to go on the pre-med track.
Miller’s career goals are to become a doctor or work in public policy.
Miller said she has always been interested in medicine, but recently she has been thinking about why she wanted to be a doctor and is not sure she wants to be but is still interested in the medical aspect of it.
Miller said, “I have been a part of Best Buddies for the past four years and am currently the president of the club, but last year I was the social media manager.”
Miller has also been involved in the Spanish NHS along with the Spanish club.
Miller said, “As the president of Best Buddies I organize different events with the SSD program. We are currently planning the Buddy Ball, and it’s open to all students, and we will have a dance, a DJ and a red carpet.”
Miller did a summer camp at Vanderbilt Summer Academy about public health going into her junior year.
“It really grew my confidence as a person and like making new friends,” Miller said. “It was an academic camp so learning and feeling like I can be with these people and still hold my own.”
Not only has Miller contributed to community service, but she also has achieved awards for academics.
Miller said, “This year, I have been awarded National Merit Finalist and Missouri Top 100 Scholar.”
Being at a high school for four years means a lot of memories have been made. Miller said her favorite was, “Turkey Day pep rally, specifically the Kirkwood cheerleaders.”
Teacher Micheal Mason said, “[Claire] is involved in a lot of extracurricular activities outside of school and is a very well rounded person. Her attitude and her humbleness at what she does is also important to consider. She doesn’t gloat and doesn’t want to receive praise which is admirable.”
Mason added, “Claire elevates others in some way and is a great example of what Webster students should strive to be.”
