Senior Andi Ziegler was a choir member who stood out to her conductors and teachers.
Choir teacher Jaylen Davis spoke about what makes Ziegler stand out in his class.
“Her work ethic in choir is always stellar. As a transfer student, I have seen her grow exponentially, and she’s gonna study music in college. She’s always on time. She’s always prepared and ready to go. She works at home and comes in with questions for her and for the entire class,” Davis said.
“She’s a student conductor, so sometimes she’ll leave rehearsal and conduct at our concerts, and that’s a lot of preparation at home and a lot of studying music at home. All of that stuff combined makes her a standout student in terms of choir and music and performance,” Davis said.
“I have loved music since I was a kid,” Ziegler said. “My dad has always loved musical theater, and when I saw him perform in shows, I realized I wanted to do that as well. I was pretty young, in first grade, when I was in my first show called ‘Elves and the Shoemaker.’”
“I also love a cappella because I have made really good lifelong friendships there, which is awesome, and it’s just great to have an outside group that’s so close, and we get to sing and do all of the stuff we like to do,” Ziegler said. She has been part of a cappella since she moved to Webster in the summer before junior year.
Ziegler plans to continue to participate in and learn about musical theater in college; however, she is still undecided about her major.
“I am unsure as to what I want to major in, but I know that theater and music will be in my life,” Ziegler said.
Ziegler advised future and current high schoolers, “Have fun. Don’t be afraid to take risks and put yourself out there. It’s not that serious, everything will be good.”
