Columbia Scholastic Press Association announced its Gold Circle winners, and six Webster Groves entries earned honors.
Gold Circle Awards include First Place, Second Place, Third Place and Certificates of Merit.
Senior Hadley Hoskins won First Place for Cultural Feature for “Spotify Wrapped Challenges Students Perception of One Another,” and Hoskins and senior Soledad Lee won Third Place for Cultural feature for “The Summer I Turned Pretty Divides Viewers.”
Hoskins and Lee won a Certificate of Merit for News Writing for “Vape Monitors Installed in Bathrooms.”
Lee also won a Certificate of Merit for Single Feature Photograph “Junior Shares Art at Learning in Action Street Fair.”
Also sophomore Arianna Peper won a Certificate of Merit for Single Sports Photograph “Junior Swims Relay.”
Finally, senior Sam Klein won a Certificate of Merit for Podcast “Students, Staff Discuss Rise of AI.”
According to CSPA’s website: “Gold Circle Awards are offered to recognize superior work by student journalists usually as individuals but sometimes as an entire staff working with either print or online media. The awards recognize individual achievement by students from any CSPA member in four major categories: News; Magazine; Digital Media; and Yearbook.”
