News Brief: Students protest to support reproductive rights

IMG_8774 (2)Twenty students gathered outside of Senior Entrance Thursday, May 12, to protest against the recent Supreme Court documents that revealed plans to repeal Roe V. Wade.

Roe V. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court decision to legalize abortion at the federal level has guaranteed a patient’s right to an abortion since 1973. Overturning the decision would empower states to legislate reproductive rights, putting patients in conservative states in danger of losing those rights.

The protest occurred during Advisory and lasted 30 minutes.

Posters advertising the protest started circulating around WGHS, reading “Pro-Tect Women’s Right.” Across the country, similar protests have occurred also against the leaked documents, including one to be held Saturday, May 14, in downtown St. Louis.
