Social studies hosted military vehicles in front of the school, Tuesday, Nov. 9, as part of its celebration of Veterans Day.

According to Joe Steimann of the Gateway Youth Aeronautical Foundation, the plane on display is “an F-4 Phantom built by McDonnell Douglas Company in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1972.”

The social studies department will continue to observe Veterans Day with an assembly Friday, Nov. 12, with about 50 veterans participating.

The ceremony will be in Roberts Gym and will only be attended by social studies classes during first hour. During the remainder of the day veterans will follow the social studies teacher’s class schedule.

Since 98% of WGHS students are enrolled in a social studies class, this allows the majority of students to benefit from the program.
