Washington University hosted its 27th annual Pow Wow Saturday, March 25.
The pow wow is a way for Native Americans from all over to come together and celebrate their culture.
The theme for this pow wow was “Honoring our ancestors’ sacrifice: Empowering children today to be the leaders of tomorrow” and included numerous dancing competitions and drum groups.
Dance categories included men’s traditional, men’s grass, men’s straight dancing, men’s fancy, men’s and women’s buckskin, women’s jingle dress, women’s cloth, women’s fancy shawl, tiny tots dancing, and teen and junior dancing. I the social dances, members of the audience were invited to participate.
The MC for the event was Northern Cheyenne Manny King, and the pow wow was open to all members of the community.
