Entertainment Columnist Abby Botan spoke to journalism campers July 19, about an internship she completed at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Botan wrote online stories and worked in the archives during her internship from June 6 to July 1.

Botan is an award-winning opinion and entertainment writer for the ECHO for her story “Men should be Feminists” and for a story about haunted attractions in Saint Louis.

About the internship, Botan said she was nervous at first, but “The reporters (at the Post-Dispatch) were very inviting.”

Botan got started in journalism by taking journalism class sophomore year. She enjoyed the class and joined the ECHO the following year.

Botan said she usually writes about popular local restaurants and entertainment venues.

Botan made her own internship through the Chelsea Center of Experiential Learning to find her internship at the Post-Dispatch.
