Superintendent Sarah Riss announced she will retire at the end of the 2015-2016 school year.

She has planned her retirement since April 2014, and worked over 37 years in education and over 27 years as an administrator.

“It is time to let someone else lead this great organization,” Riss said.

The Board of Education will work with the school community to find the next person to head Webster Groves Schools, and Riss said she will be available to help as much as necessary. Although she will be gone after the end of next year, Riss said Webster will always have a special place in her heart.

“Words cannot express the emotions I feel for each and every one of you.  You are a part of my life and a part of who I have become.  I have learned from each of you and will carry what I have learned with me throughout the rest of my life,” Riss said.
