Varsity baseball began its season with 14 new players after graduating 12 seniors. For the past two seasons its record has been 14-12 under the guidance of Coach Joe Boeckman.
The team will play March 31, at Parkway North.
The team now has three seniors, 15 juniors and two sophomores, relying on last year’s JV to make up all the players lost after last season.
Senior Sam Short said, “We are a much younger team with five returning Varsity members. The last team had played together for so long and had a lot of experience together, so right now we are working on building team chemistry. A lot of people are stepping up to fill the roles of the graduated seniors.”
Boeckman said, “The team is competing to fill in spots, and we’re still shifting them around to find the best line up.”
Try outs were Monday, March 3 to Saturday, March 8.
