For some, Thanksgiving morning is their chance to compete in the 30th annual Turkey Day Run.
The run features both three and six-mile races throughout the Webster and Kirkwood communities. Potential participants can register for this event at the Kirkwood or Webster Community centers.
The three-mile race begins at 7:30 a.m. and the six-mile race begins at 8:10 a.m., both at the Kirkwood Farmer’s Market.
Normally, the Webster side of the run would be headed by Dan Sebben, Webster’s cross country head coach and guidance counselor; however, this year the run changed. The run will be sponsored by Big River Running this year.
Big River Running will provide microchips to attach to shoes for more precise racing results and will put the results of the race on its website, BigRiverRunning.com, following the race.
“Big River Running Company is St. Louis’ premier running shoe and running apparel store,” according to its website.
Participants should be warned that the streets will not be blocked of during the race, so they need to be on the lookout for cars.
