Webster band will have a mattress sale fundraiser Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event will be run by Kevin Cole, Jill Young, band members and Band Aides.

“The mattress sale is the second largest fundraiser of the year,” Band Aide Michelle Leslie said.

The number one is the band concessions at Moss Field. The combined earnings from the fundraiser and concessions goes towards equipment and class trips.

Not only are mattress sales helpful to the band but also to the customers. With the mattresses being “at price below traditional retail,” according to the Custom Fundraising Solutions website, which gives customers an incentive to want to buy them and gives the band more sales.

Band students also enjoy helping with the event.

Band member Camden Leslie, senior, said, “I like wearing the mattress costume because it’s really fun to go advertise on the street corner.”

Every summer the band goes to Truman State University, where members learn their songs for the year and the marching patterns for football games. This band camp at Truman is funded by the fundraising the band does throughout the year.

The band plans to make $4,000 again this year from the mattress sale alone.
