Senior William Blew plans to play men’s lacrosse at Lewis University next year. He will major in electrical engineering.

Lewis University is located in Romeoville, IL, just 30 miles from Chicago. It is a member of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Valley Conference, alongside schools such as Maryville, UMSL, Truman State and Missouri S&T, according to the GLVC Website.

“I chose Lewis largely because of the lacrosse program. I really like the head coach and the team is up and coming. They became a team about seven years ago. I also really like the campus and the distance of the campus from home,” Blew said.

In college, Blew will have one main source of motivation: being the best lacrosse player he can be, Blew said.

“Right now that looks like becoming good enough to get substantial playing time freshman year. Later down the line it will look like All Conference and All American awards. I want to achieve as high a level as I can,” Blew said.

Blew will also major in electrical engineering at Lewis.

“I chose electrical engineering because I have always been interested in computers and working with my hands. Math is my favorite subject,” Blew said about his choice.

Blew’s family have supported him throughout the entire process. “My parents were a huge part of my recruiting process. They helped me with finding out where I wanted to go, getting to recruiting events across the country, and talking to coaches,” Blew said.

“My sisters [also] always go to my games when they can, and it’s been huge in terms of support,” Blew added.

Junior Elliot Blew, Blew’s sister, agreed she tries to support him whenever possible.

“My relationship with my brother is really good. We’re only 18 months apart, so we’re really close. He’s always doing something, either playing lacrosse or practicing lacrosse. I’m really excited to go watch him play,” Elliot said.
