New English teacher Alex Venneman is 23 years old, and this is his first year teaching as he recently finished student teaching at Valley High School.
“I love English because it doesn’t focus on the right or wrong but more on your interpretation,” Venneman said about why he chose English as the subject he wanted to teach.
Venneman teaches Senior Contemporary Literature and Reading Foundations.
Venneman graduated from, student teaching and graduated from Saint Louis University with a major in English.
“I’d say, my biggest joy, of teaching so far, is the moment of realization in a student’s face, when they finish the assignment or finish the last page of a book… just any moment that shows growth,” Venneman said about what it’s like to be a new teacher.
Venneman said his biggest struggle has been balancing his personal life and the job.
“I love the area and the feel of community in Webster,” Venneman said about why he chose to come to teach in Webster.
Venneman’s favorite things to do outside of school are anything that allows him to be creative or explore new things; for instance, he enjoys traveling, going to coffee shops and just reading or hanging out with friends, along with his enjoyment of reality TV shows.
“Mr. V has the energy that is necessary for working with people in the school. He seems to enjoy his interactions with with folks here and is genuinely excited about his new gig,” English teacher Jeff Facchin said about Venneman as a new teacher via email.
