As film club president and winner of the senior superlative, “Most Fashionable,” senior Saroya Williams has had a positive influence on others during her time in high school.
As film club president this year, Williams noticed how she’s grown into taking a leadership role with film
“Being president this year, I think that I’ve really stepped into my leadership abilities, and it really helped prepare me to go into film as a career,” Williams said.
Although Williams is currently undecided about her college plans, she most likely plans to attend DePaul University in Chicago majoring in film.
As for after college, Williams hopes for one day to become a film director.
“I would want to be, I’d say an indie film director. It’s preferred to not work in a big industry,” Williams said
Besides film club, Williams has been in Art Club all four years, National Art Honor Society since her junior year and also ran track her junior year.
Williams reflected on her most influential experience at the high school being her lunch crew coming together and the impact it’s had on her as a person.
“My lunch crew coming together, like last year. Or just people who I’ve eaten lunch with… It’s really impacted my friend group, and my friend group’s pretty big, and I feel like they’ve helped me change. I’ve definitely grown as a person and I have a lot of cool new friends,” Williams said.
Those who know Williams know she is always an encouraging person to be around and overall just a genuine person, and nevertheless that is where her morals stand.
“I’d say do it for the plot. I live by that a lot. It’s really important to make sure I can be happy in the future and that I can look back and not be upset on my past,” Williams said.
