Former teacher placed on 5-year probation for sexual contact with student

Former English teacher David Mendelson pleaded guilty to sexual contact with a student, a Class D felony, and was placed on five-years probation on March 29.

Mendelson was sentenced to four years of incarceration, but the sentence was suspended and will only be executed if he violates the terms of his probation.

Mendelson was also put on the Missouri Sex Offender Registry.

Mendelson pleaded guilty to sexual contact with a student, who was 18 years old at the time of the incident(s). The incident(s) took place at Webster Groves High School during the 2009-2010 school year. The original charges detailed sexual intercourse and oral sex.

According to Superintendent John Simpson, Mendelson resigned in 2010 from his position at WGHS.
