Drama holds auditions for ‘Midsummer’s Night Dream’
Auditions for William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer’s Night Dream” will be 3-5 p.m. Nov. 16, in the drama room.
No preparation is necessary.

Seniors crowned Friendship King, Queen
Seniors Sterling Smith and Clara Veldhuizen were crowned King and Queen, respectively, from the high school at the Webster Groves-Kirkwood High School Friendship Dance on Nov. 3, at Kirkwood High School.
Smith was selected by the band, and Veldhuizen was selected by the football team.
“I’m glad to have had this opportunity,” Smith said about winning.
Junior attends South Carolina summit
Junior Claire Kellick attended the Youth Volunteer Corps Summit in Charleston, SC, on Nov. 2 and 3.
The summit included workshops and a service project. Kellick was one of 26 members on the International Youth Advisory Board.
According to the summit’s president and founder, David Battey, the event is an “opportunity to get together as a YVC family. It is a chance to learn from each other, celebrate our successes, and plot our way forward in a relaxing, encouraging and fun atmosphere.”

Global poverty class returns from ‘eye opening trip
Real World Problems: Global Poverty class recently returned from a trip to the Heifer Ranch, a 1,200 acre ranch designed to create a simulation of poverty for those who sign up.
Students from the high school, along with students from the companion class at Webster University, went on the four-day, three-night excursion.
“It was eye opening,” senior Phoebe Cattoor said. Cattoor also talked about the perspective she now has on her own life: “It definitely made me look at how privileged my life is.”
The class will spend the rest of the year working towards creating an implementable solution to poverty.
