Students and staff were afforded an opportunity to watch the total eclipse on Aug. 21, when the high school scheduled an evacuation drill to coincide with the eclipse’s totality.
Spectators were given solar glasses by the fifth hour teachers, and the evacuation occurred during sixth hour so that they were in place during totality which was about 1:15 p.m. and lasted one minute and 15 seconds.
Students were shown a slideshow the previous week to explain the eclipse and emphasize safety precautions.
