Several area fire departments responded to a burning house on Atalanta Avenue across the street from Avery Elementary playground, forcing Avery Adventure Club students to be moved inside.

The house was badly singed on the left side, and windows were broken on all three levels.

About 5 p.m. 10 or so firefighters just left house, and it looked as though only small amounts of smoke continued to rise from house.

It didn’t appear as though anyone was in house/injured when it burned, but owner collapsed upon seeing it.  She regained consciousness later and was seen talking on stretcher.
