St. Louis medical examiner’s office has identified the body found at Avery Elementary on Tuesday morning as William Wadley, 35, a custodian.
The cause of death was not immediately available, but no gun was involved, and no foul play is suspected, according to authorities.
Webster Groves police were called about 6 a.m on Tuesday morning to the school to investigate the death of a 35-year-old man.
A note sent from School Reach said, “It is believed that at no point during the incident were there other people in the building, students and staff were never in harm’s way, and there is not believed that there was ever a public safety risk.”
Parents were notified that summer programs at the school were canceled for the day, and Adventure Club will be held at Edgar Road School for the remainder of the summer.
The investigation remains ongoing.
