Webster Groves School District Foundation gave the science department $3,358 grant for a new weather station.
“It is an amazing device. I love it,” said CiCi Faucher, science teacher. “It gives us an up to date weather whenever we want.”
Mickey Erb helped with writing the grant. “Writing the grant didn’t take any time at all, getting and approving the grant is the long part,” said Erb. The time the grant process depends on what the grant is for. This grant took about nine-12 months to process.
Also there was a delay to the setup of the weather station due to the roof fire at the high school last April.
The class of 1958 Webster Groves Alumni gave the grant through the foundation. The dollar amount of the grant ends in “58” because the class of 1958 sponsored it, according to development director Stephanie Batson.
Data from the weather station can be found at
http://www.wunderground.com, and the location is KMOWEBST2. There is also a link on “wgecho.org.”
“We are currently investigating adding a webcam to the weather station as well,” said Faucher. “You will be able to see a live feed of the weather.”
