Advertising Policy

The decision to accept, edit or reject advertisements in the Echo is made by the staff, with the adviser’s guidance and input.

The Echo staff will not run advertisements that violate legal restrictions (libel, obscenity, invasion of privacy, disruption of the educational process) or that are counter to established journalistic ethics.

Ads will not be accepted that are sexist or racist in nature.  Ads for products or services that are illegal for high school students will not be accepted.  Ads in the Echo must be free of offensive statements or implications, as determined by the adviser and a 3/5 majority of the ECHO staff.  If the staff decides not to run a pre-paid advertisement, the remaining money will be refunded to the advertiser.

Placement of an ad does not imply endorsement by the staff, adviser, administration or the Webster Groves School District Board of Education.
