Webster Groves School District Foundation has announced the Run For Webster will be “taking a break” this year, according to its website.
The Webster Groves School District Foundation said, “The 2025 Run for Webster was cancelled due to a lack of volunteer numbers within the WGSD Foundation’s Run Committee. It takes a considerable amount of pre-planning with community partners beginning nearly six months leading up to race day, including coordination with the City of Webster Groves, Police Department, WG School District, surrounding neighborhoods, countless vendors, and community sponsors.”
The run typically takes place in October and plans to continue in 2026, according to its website.
The Run for Webster has been ongoing continuously since 2004, according to its website. The money raised from the run goes to the Webster Groves School District to “ bring innovative projects to the district, and meet the needs of all of its students. Without private investment, our standard of excellence is in jeopardy,” according to its website
Head men’s cross country coach Jon Petter said, “I think it’s a bummer if there are now less chances for young people to get involved in running.”
Similar events in the area include the Mary Queen of Peace Bratfest 5K & Fun Run on Sept. 28, and the Kirkwood-Webster Groves Turkey Day Run on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 27.
