National Merit Scholarship named two students National Merit Semifinalists and six students National Merit Commended Scholars.

The two Semifinalists are seniors Sage Finney and Benjamin Dunsford, and they will have the opportunity to continue on in the competition for a scholarship.

The six Commended Scholars are seniors Sonia Archambault, Audrey Casey, Austin Christensen, Anthony DeArmitt, Colette Giezentanner and Philip Smith.

The National Merit Scholarship is a scholarship for high scores on the PSAT. It is a nationwide competition and recognizes students for high scores. Only about 2% of the graduating senior class receive the award.

National Merit Semifinalists are students who score in the top 1% of PSAT takers and meet state-specific score cutoffs. Semifinalists are eligible to compete for the National Merit Scholarship.

Commended Scholars are students who score in the top 2-3% on the PSAT but do not meet the score cutoff to become a Semifinalist.
