
Statesbots Black goes to State
For the first time in five years, a high school robotics team is heading to the Missouri State Championship.
After attending the Eastern Conference Qualifier on Feb. 9, Statesbots Black team was able to achieve third place, as captain of the Finalist Alliance.
It also received the Rockwell Collins Innovate award, which “celebrates a team that thinks outside the box and has the ingenuity and inventiveness to make their designs come to life”, according to the First Tech Challenge (FTC) award descriptions.
The championship will take place March 9, at Missouri S&T in Rolla.
Beverly Hopkins Poetry Contest is open
St. Louis Poetry Center is accepting entries for the Beverly Hopkins Memorial Poetry Contest through March 1.
There is no entry fee, and high school students living within 100 miles of St. Louis may enter up to three poems.
First prize is $225, second is $125, and third is $75.
