Lockdowns were imposed around 11 a.m. for Webster Groves High School, Hixson Middle School, Henry Givens Elementary School and the Steger Sixth Grade Center following an out-of-district phone call that claimed a student had been shot in a Hixson Middle School bathroom.
After this, faculty and authorities at the district elementary schools checked those buildings as well. It was determined no such event had taken place and all students were safe.
A letter from superintendent John Simpson to parents stated the police have decided the initial phone call was a “prank” and have also identified the caller.
