Mitchell Lazarow, senior and Eagle Award nominee, has been a part of several sports and activities at WGHS.
Lazarow has played football for four years, two on Varsity, and has played volleyball for four years.
Apart from athletics, Lazarow sang chamber choir for three years, is on his fourth year singing for a cappella, and takes AP classes.
Outside of school Lazarow spends time doing homework and playing music. Lazarow plays piano and a loop station that can create different sounds and repeat those sounds to create music.
Lazarow also enjoys solving rubix cubes in his spare time because “it’s fun, and it’s just a way to keep away from the stresses of life for and hour or so at a time.”
Lazarow was nominated for the Eagle Award by Spanish teacher and a cappella coach Jaime Schwartz.
“I nominated Mitchell because he is a kid who inspires me to be a better person,” Schwartz said.
Lazarow inspires her because “of his unwavering acceptance of others’ reality, his mature approach to life situation, his go-get-it-ness, his athleticism, his ability to want to think outside the box and want to take things on.”
Lazarow plans to attend the Ohio State University this fall because both of his parents went to Ohio State, and he liked seeing the atmospheric science department.
Lazarow wants to study atmospheric science because “I want to be able to read all this data and be able to interpret it and warn people of approaching storms or tornadoes.”
This award is important to Lazarow because “it kind of wraps up everything I’ve done in high school. It’s such a big honor to just be nominated and to be recognized and have that impact.”
Lazarow wants to one day have his picture on the WGHS students “Wall of Fame” and said, that “Being an Eagle Award recipient would engrave my name on WGHS tradition.”
