Sound Of Music” by Rodgers and Hammerstein is the fall musical this year. Opening night is Nov. 10, in the auditorium. Tickets for adults are $10 and $7 for students.
Tech theatre takes a big toll in this production.
“We are trying to make the set look like Austria pre World War ll as much as possible,” said sophomore, Melanie Umbaugh, tech theater member.
Tech theatre is designing and building the sets for every scene of the Academy Award-winning production of 1965 film tarring Julie Andrews, Umbaugh said
junior Abigail Oldham, who plays main character Maria, (originally played by Andrews) is preparing by studying the back story on her character and the musical.
To play a role that Oscar winner Andrews has played might be very intimidating, but Oldham has spent hours preparing for this challenge.
Other lead, senior Sean Kaelble, who plays Captain George Von Trapp, said he’s preparing by watching the film and getting to know his character and the unforgettable time period.
Even though this is one of the largest casts including children, “Working with my cast mates has been really great,” Kaelble said.
